Understanding Dermal Fillers

dermal fillerWhat are dermal fillers?

In brief, dermal fillers would be described as a technique, similar to that of botox, used for the correction of eye wrinkles or any other type of unwanted lines around the facial area. Many people are satisfied using non-surgical hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Juverderm, but others would prefer to go to a plastic surgeon and have collegen or hyaluronic acid injected in the required area.

Although the procedure may sound similar to that of botox, it is a different process that you will have to go through so the two shouldn’t be confused.

Dermal fillers is not only known for anti aging, but also a way of disguising scars so for someone who has suffered from bad acne it would be an option to take.

Opting for a natural dermal filler

Like every product, there are various brands and you have to weigh up your options, especially with something that is on the expensive side. For those with sensitive skin or who are more likely to bruise, choosing the natural route is a good direction to go in. If you opt for this then you would choose something like Juvaderm. This comes in the form of a gel and is used for lines, wrinkles and scars. It can last up to a year.

Side effects are rare because of the fact that the ingredients are natural. Some people with very sensitive skin have reported a couple of lumps as well as a hint of redness afterwards which has lasted a couple of days after the procedure, but on the whole the dermal filler before and after effect has been reviewed highly as of late. The advantage with this method is that you won’t need a numbing agent beforehand because the product already contains a natural anesthetic. A surgeon will simply make a couple of injections after drawing the marks in the appropriate places. You will feel numb for some time afterwards.

Dermal fillers cost

The cost of the procedure would be something you would most likely consider before anything else. There is a wide price range just like any type of cosmetic surgery, but that doesn’t mean that this is cheap. Perhaps this is why the non-surgical method has become so popular in recent times. Plastic surgeons can charge you anything from $400 to $1,200, but of course prices are always jumping up and down. The fee charged will depend partly on the surgeon, but mostly on what type of substance was used.
